Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth offers volunteer opportunities for every schedule. We appreciate and honor each and every person that donates their time and efforts to support our mission. All volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Application and attend New Volunteer Orientation.
Home Visitor – Assist Lighthouse clients with grocery shopping, mail reading, letter writing, and running errands. Commitment: 2 – 4 times a month
Telephone Reassurance – Call homebound Lighthouse clients to provide friendship. Commitment: 2 – 4 times a month
Lighthouse CCTV Loaner Program – Assist in the delivery of donated CCTVs to Lighthouse clients. Commitment: 2 – 6 times a month or as needed by Client Services
Transportation Driver – Provide transportation to Lighthouse clients and/or staff for Lighthouse activities and appointments, running errands and medical appointments. Commitment: 2 – 4 times a month and as needed
Tactile Art Teacher – Lead individuals who are significantly visually impaired and blind in creating tactile art and craft projects that can be completed within 60 to 90 minutes. Commitment: once a month
Translator (Spanish) – Help translate communications materials and web content from English to Spanish. Commitment: varies depending on needs
Special Events – Assist with Lighthouse events ranging from monthly classes to holiday parties. Commitment: varies depending on event needs
