Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth offers volunteer opportunities for every schedule. We appreciate and honor each and every person that donates their time and efforts to support our mission.  All volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Application, go through a background check, and attend New Volunteer Orientation.

Volunteer Opportunities

Transportation Driver  – Provide transportation to Lighthouse clients and/or staff for Lighthouse activities and appointments, running errands and medical appointments.

Home Visitor – Assist Lighthouse clients with grocery shopping, mail reading, letter writing, and running errands.  

Telephone Reassurance – Call homebound Lighthouse clients to provide friendship and provide a wellness check.

Lighthouse CCTV Loaner Program – Assist in the delivery of donated CCTVs to Lighthouse clients.

Translator (Spanish)  – Help translate communications materials and web content from English to Spanish.

Fundraising Assistant – Work with Head of Development on special fundraising projects.  

Support Group Facilitator – Lead or assist with support groups.

Blind Awareness Ambassador – Helps with Blind Awareness Training (BAT) in the community. Acts as ambassador for the Lighthouse in public speaking opportunities, or assists Lighthouse staff. (Some training required.)
