As a cornerstone of our community since 1935, Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth (Tarrant County Association for the Blind) deeply appreciates your investment in empowering independence.

We appreciate YOU!

Established during the Great Depression in 1935, the Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth is Tarrant County’s largest employer of the blind and remains the only nonprofit delivering unique, unduplicated services to an estimated 81,000 blind and visually impaired individuals in surrounding counties.

Our mission is to encourage and empower visually impaired individuals of all ages—from children to seniors—to achieve their highest level of independence through competitive employment, specialized training, and comprehensive client services, all offered at no charge, with a significant focus on seniors impacted by age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.

Our Lighthouse Industrial Operation employs the legally blind to fulfill state, federal, and commercial contracts. Revenue generated from manufactured, assembled, and sold products directly funds full wages and benefits for our employees.

This income also helps support our Client Services program, which assists visually impaired individuals in our community. Private donations cover any remaining costs!

The harsh reality is that vision loss presents significant hardships, particularly for individuals over 60. Many end up in assisted living facilities, feeling isolated from loved ones and facing increased financial strain.

Since opening our doors, we’ve passionately worked to infuse purpose and hope into the daily lives of visually disabled individuals, all thanks to wonderful supporters like you!

For some, this means returning to the workforce in a meaningful, competitive job. For others, it’s about overcoming fear to navigate their world or expanding their technology skills. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a real difference in the life of a visually impaired individual.
