Its mission: to explore strange new worlds\, to seek out new technology\, to boldly go where no one has gone before. Come join us as we explore the Fort Worth Stockyards using some of the latest technology. \nThursday October 18\, 2018 9:30am – 1:30pm \nTo register visit\, www.whitecanesafetyday.info \n2018 North Texas White Cane Safety Day Schedule \n9:00am – 10:00am Registration\n9:30am – 11:00am Activities\n• Scavenger Hunt\n• Explore a city bus\n• Ride Bus #15 to the end of the line and return\n• Explore the Fort Worth Lighthouse Independent Living RV\n• Visit with vendors\n11:15am – 11:45am Pictures in the Stampede Room\n11:45am Lunch \n12:15pm – 1:30pm Program \nThis year we are doing our schedule a little different. We will have activities that you can do in any order between 9:30am – 11:00am. We will use beacons to mark all activities so that you can use your cell phone to find them. The vendors will be in the Stampede Room and will also be marked with beacons. \n  \nWhite Cane Safety Day is an opportunity to educate the public about the White Cane Safety Laws and to celebrate independent travel of individuals with a visual impairment. Participants go on a scavenger hunt to learn the technology used today to travel independently and how to travel with a dog guide. The Lone Star Guide Dog Raisers will be along the route this year to share information about the stages of raising a guide dog and how to obtain a guide dog. Participants will also have an opportunity to explore a city bus\, ride a city bus\, explore the Fort Worth Lighthouse independent living RV\, and meet with vendors representing current technology involved in travel. Then everyone is invited to a Texas-style lunch of BBQ\, followed by a program and awards ceremony.

We will travel to meet up with representatives from the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) for a two hour seminar about fitness and ways to get active.
